ACT I

On the night they met, he was immediately enchanted by her. No one had ever made him feel this way before."What do you think about me?" she asked.He was in love. She was perfect for him. The rest of his life suddenly seemed incomplete if she wouldn’t be in it. Unsure of whether she loved him back though, he kept this to himself.“Let’s meet up sometime!”Their night ended with a promise that they would see each other again. He was nervous for that day to come, But when he was finally with her again all his fears and anxieties melted away. Not only was he in love, but for the first time in his life he truly felt at peace with himself. She promised that they would see each other the following day. He imagined spending the rest of his life with her. He imagined how wonderful that life would be. She never showed up the next day. She left him.

ACT I

He knew she felt the same way.“you made the right choice <3”Their night ended with a promise that they would be together forever. Not only was he in love, but for the first time in his life he truly felt at peace with himself. She promised that she would never leave him. She would revolve her life around him. She would have him all the herself. They would be together forever.

ACT II

He didn’t know what to do. His heart swelled with an immense pain he had never felt before. Desolated and broken, he tried to heal from what had happened, but the weight of his self imposed sins was too great. As a last resort, he decided that he needed to forget about her completely.In the process of his love for her, he made the mistake of actually pushing her away.He concluded that getting rid of her was not enough. The only way to ever prevent feeling this much pain was to get rid of everything and everyone that he loved, so that he would never have to suffer another loss. He was not at peace, nor did he have love, but at least he was free from any more pain of having to lose something he loved. It was perfect. It was wonderful.

ACT II

He knew what to do. His heart swelled with an immense pain he had felt his whole life. Desolated and broken, he tried to heal from what had happened, but the weight of his self imposed sins was too great. As a last resort, he decided to get rid of himself permanently.In the process of his love for her, he made the mistake of actually pushing her away.He tried. It didn't work. ACT III

In a twist of fate, the two reunited years later. All of the memories of his love for her came flooding back. Memories that he believed to be all but faded away. Not knowing how to handle his new feelings, he convinced himself that his deliberate attempt to push away love wasn’t the answer to a perfect life, but that he should give into his feelings. Not wanting to ever lose her again, he confessed the love he once had for her.“I felt the same way.”Hearing her response, his fears and anxieties all but melted away. He expected to feel at peace like he had before, but the thought of losing her again was too great. As he spoke his mind to her, she begged him to stop saying things like that. That he was going off the deep end. That she wanted everything to be like it was before.He couldn’t listen to her. His feelings couldn’t be dissuaded. He cared about her, he wanted her all to himself, he wanted to revolve his entire life around her. To him, that sounded perfect. It sounded wonderful. She left him. The memories of her were all he had left. Memories, which began to fade fast.

ACT IV

Life moved on. He didn’t. Haunted by the possibilities of what could’ve been, he couldn’t bring himself to face his own reality. He found himself seeing her everywhere he went. But it wasn’t her. It was the idea of her. The perfect, wonderful fantasy of what could have been. A fantasy, that at one point, was his reality. A fantasy which was ineffably more attractive than the reality he faced now.Every time he tried to move on, he ended up finding himself right back where he started.These constant reminders of what could have been began to get more frequent and soon he stopped fighting them. He no longer wanted to be with her. Because she was already gone. He wanted to be with the idea of her. That way she would never leave him again. And they could be together forever. And she would be happy. And he would be at peace.

ACT V

Before he departed reality forever, he wanted to reflect on the memories of what once was. No longer fearing the pain of his past, he remembered her. The real her. The girl who promised to be there. The girl who left him. The girl who hurt him. The girl who betrayed his trust. But he also remembered the girl who made him happy. The girl who brought him peace. The wonderful girl who completed his life.“I love you.” he told her.“I need you.”“I miss you.”“Do you miss me too?”There was no response, but he knew the answer. She never needed him. She never missed him. She never loved him. All this time he was addicted to her, was she addicted to him? The perfect, wonderful life he imagined with her. Did she ever want that too? He was scared. He realized that all this time, after that first night, he was never actually in love with her. Only the idea of what she could have been.

EPILOGUE

The next morning, he woke up. Alone, still in pain. Yet finally at peace. She left him,
but he moved on.

Where does the name come from?
Occasionally I'll make a song that is leagues beyond anything I've created up to that point. I give the name "Odyssey" to these songs. This is the fourth one.How long was the album in development?
Odyssey 4 was recorded in several different dormitories and bedrooms throughout December 2020 to October 2022. The website was created throughout October and November 2022.Who is the girl in the cover photo?
The girl can represent whatever or whoever you want it to. All the photos in this project were from photo albums I purchased at an antique store, and the actual identity of the girl is unknown.What inspired Odyssey 4?
